Open seat at St. Augustine's

Hey, I’m new here!

Welcome to Saint Augustine’s Orthodox Anglican Church

We’re really not stuffy.  Our liturgy is reverent, but we are a relaxed and friendly!

When and Where?

Sunday Mass begins at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday. Sunday Mass is on average 1 hour long. We are located at 170 Watkins Cemetery Road, Bryson City, NC 28713 (link to map)

How do I dress?

Come as you are. Saint Augustine’s doesn’t have a dress code. You are welcome to attend dressed however you feel comfortable.

Can I take communion?

Saint Augustine’s practices open communion. All visitors are welcome and encouraged to receive Holy Communion during Sunday’s Mass, provided that they are water baptized.

Should I stay for fellowship after the Mass?

PLEASE, we love meeting new people and we encourage all visitors to stay and join us in the parish hall for refreshments after the Mass.

What is the service like?

Saint Augustine’s uses the 1928 Book of Common Prayer during the Mass. It is a beautiful ritual form of worship which dates back centuries. The service is “interactive” with attendees being very much a part of the service. We have visitor guides which will guide you through the Mass.

Do I have to kneel?

Anglicans sit to learn, kneel to pray and stand to praise; but the answer is no. If kneeling is uncomfortable just remain seated, we want all visitors to worship comfortably.

What if I have young children?

We have a fully equipped nursery and a parishioner (member of the church) will be available to provide supervision and entertainment of your children.

What should I do if I would like to become a member of St. Augustine’s?

Simply speak to Canon Rusty or Fr. James and they will provide guidance for you.
