Hanging in the Balance

These last couple of days have evolved into a cocoon of precious time for me.

As it unfolded before me I knew how I wanted to spend this time. Be in an attitude of prayer…

I watched the debate. It left me passionate…alert ready to strap prayer pads on and begin praying.

There is so much out there that need our prayers. Namely homeless teenagers, our country, our town, our neighbor, ourselves.

The cross that Jesus hung upon is hanging in the balance. On one side is good, the other is bad. Simple right?

Our weapon of choice is prayer…..It must be. We are Christians.

The practice of prayer…The "habit" of prayer. All reminders that the safest place to be is praying.

Psalms 69 says; The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.

Psalm 7:7 says; Let the assembled peoples gather around you …

Psalm 7:10 says; My shield is God most high, who saves the upright in heart.

Psalm 110:7,8 says the works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. They are steadfast forever and ever done in faithfulness and uprightness.

What is hanging in the balance for you, dear friend. Perhaps that unspoken prayer. God hears them all you know.

Let us hover together in the the spirit of prayer, clinging to God, with prayers on our lips, on our breath, and ever in our hearts, remembering…

Hebrew’s 4:12 For the Word of God is living, and

James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up.

So, now we are armed with the word of God…Let us claim yet another verse.

1 John 1: 5,7 Walking in the light, this is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. But, if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his son, purifies us from all sin. God’s word, prayer and the Holy sacrament.

This I know…I am in awe….complete and utter awe of the power and strength of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. The love he gives to us puts joy in us. That thing that compels you to comfort a stranger and gives them HOPE. While sitting in a crowded waiting room full of sick and hurting peoples in some form or fashion…We…us…you….me make that call…When we have Jesus in our ear and in our hearts. Prompting those moments of comfort we give to the suffering. It touches our own sense of who we are in God. Keeps us mindful. Keeps us hanging in the balance and not sinking.

My skin tingles and tears spring forth in my eyes as I am humbled by the presence of God in my life.

EVERYTHING is relevant. You, me, our neighbor, our town, our country…Let us pray. Every day!

May the Spirit of God’s love fill our hearts and minds thru Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
